Dr. Sarah Zinn

Postdoctoral Researcher, Center for Laboratory Safety
Bio

Sarah is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California Center for Laboratory Safety where she designs materials to bolster bottom-up safety programs and conducts research at the intersection of chemistry, sociology, industrial psychology, and safety. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago as a National Defense Science and Engineering Fellow where she used ultrafast two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy to study the key design principles of photon-harvesting macromolecular organic systems. During the completion of her doctoral work, she became particularly interested in the cultural environment of academic researchers and, in her spare time, went on to study sociological research methods at the University of Chicago. Now, her passion lies in understanding and promoting safe lab practices amongst on-the-ground researchers.
