About the Workshop
When: September 17-19, 2023
Where: Covel Commons on UCLA Campus, 330 De Neve Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90095
The 2023 Workshop will be a unique forum for researchers from academia, government laboratories, and industry to work together with EH&S experts and administrators from funding, regulatory and other organizations to improve laboratory safety. Organizational policies, safety software, technology, and more work for and with humans. This year's theme, "Human Factors: Safety and Technology," will explore the complex and dynamic relationship between people, organizational factors, safety, and technology.
During the Workshop, participants will form Workgroups to engage collaboratively with each other and discuss topics at the intersection of laboratory safety and technology. After discussion, Workgroups will have the opportunity to present their ideas to the greater Workshop and hear the conclusions of other Workgroups. Interested in participating in a Workgroup? Check out this year's Workgroup Session Topics below:
The specific objectives of the Workshop will be:
- Identify human factors design principles
- Explore common pitfalls of safety technology and software in the laboratory safety sphere
- Discuss best practices for human-centric safety technology
